Shake It Up!

March is here already, can you believe it? It's time to think about how we are doing with the goals we set for ourselves in January... Are we on track? Did our goals change? Do we need to set a new Winning Outcome?

Don't let "Spring Fever" draw you away from your meeting. Summer is coming!

Never be afraid of dropping me an email if needed. I will see you in the meeting room!!

Have a great week!

Avoiding boredom with food and activity
The Challenge:

Boredom—eating the same foods and doing the same activity day in and day out—can make some of us more vulnerable to temptation and lead us to overeat. The PointsPlus Solution:

In this meeting, we will learn the importance of variety in both food and exercise. We’ll swap ideas for trying new foods and activities that will shake things up and help rekindle our enthusiasm for the weight-management process.

Portion Savvy

The Weight-Loss Skill:

Managing portions to stay on target with weight loss

The Challenge:

As we get comfortable following the Weight Watchers program, we tend to pay less attention to measuring portion sizes. But it’s amazing how cereal can grow in the bowl every morning! Slacking off on portion control, though it seems harmless, can significantly slow down weight-loss progress.

The PointsPlus Solution:
In this meeting, we will be reminded of how continuing to measure portions is key to consistent weight-loss success. We will learn about the many different tools that can be used to accurately portion foods and gain a renewed commitment to measuring.

For More Info:
Weight Watchers® Weekly: “Measure for Measure: The Secrets of Portion Control”—expert tips on measuring portions, and “Portion Correction”—commonly overestimated and underestimated portions and what that means in terms of PointsPlus™ values.

Tool of the Week:

I attribute most of my weight loss and weight maintenance success to one tool: My food scale.
The Weight Watchers Electronic Food Scale not only weighs the foods (DUH!) but it also has many very useful functions:
Tare: You can put on your bowl, use the tare function to zero out the scale, and weigh the foods without having to substract the weight of the bowl itself.
Food bank: You can put your food on the scale, start spelling it, and it will give you the PointsPlus Value of the amount of what you've put on the scale. 400+ foods!
Add: You can calculate the PointsPlus Value of a food, then use the Add function to add one more food, find it's PointsPlus Value, then add it to the previous food to get the total of all the foods in the bowl.
Calculator: You can put in a food, enter the Proteins, Carbs, fat and fiber for a set portion, the portion size (in grams) and the scale will give you the PointsPlus value for the amount you have on there.

D-I-Y Kitchen Makeover

The Weight-Loss Skill:

Manage your home environment

The Challenge:

This week, on Valentine’s Day, we may find ourselves well-loved—maybe too much so—with hard-to-resist sweet treats and heart-shaped boxes just beckoning to be opened! The fact is that we face food challenges at home year round—cookies for visiting grandkids, leftover dessert that dinner guests brought, chips that your spouse bought to eat while watching the game... the list goes on...

The PointsPlus Solution:

In today’s meeting, we will explore how our kitchens—and the contents of our cupboards, pantries, and fridge—can support our weight-loss effort instead of sabotaging it. We will discuss how to create a weight-loss-friendly kitchen, getting rid of hard-to-resist foods and stocking up on helpful choices like Power Foods.

Tools of the Week:

Snack bars and Baked Snacks

When Is It Truly Hunger?

The Weight-Loss Skill:

Listening to your body to recognize when you’re truly physically hungry

The Challenge:

We don’t always know if we’re truly hungry or if we just feel like eating. And if we are truly hungry, we don’t always know which foods will help us feel satisfied and keep us on track with our weight-loss efforts. Making it more complicated is the prospect of holidays like Valentine’s Day, when sweet temptations abound.

The PointsPlus Solution:

In today’s meeting, we will learn about the body signals that indicate when we’re hungry and when we’re satisfied, and how to listen to those signals.  We will also explore how Weight Watchers Power Foods and the PointsPlus program make it easier than ever to manage our hunger and feel satisfied, boosting our weight-loss success.
